Industry: Software

Press Release Summary: ActiveState recognized for development environment
innovations in SD Times 100

Press Release Body: ActiveState\'s Komodo IDE was recognized by the editors of The SD
Times today in their release of the SD Times 100, the influential technology
publications\' list of the most innovative companies and organizations in the
software industry.

Calling 2007 \"a great year for development environments,\" The SD Times noted that
\"even the scripting languages got the royal treatment, as new IDEs from ActiveState
and CodeGear brought innovative development tools to theses new languages.\"

ActiveState made three major developments in the 2007, including the release of
Komodo IDE 4.0, the introduction of Komodo Edit, and the announcement of the Open
Komodo project.

\"It\'s great to be acknowledged by the editors of The SD Times for our work on
Komodo,\" said Trent Mick, Komodo Dev Lead at ActiveState. \"Last year was a stellar
year for Komodo, and we\'re appreciative of the tremendous response to our new
releases and initiatives.\"

Komodo IDE 4.0 was released in January 2007, adding browser-side features like
JavaScript debugging, DOM viewer, HTTP Inspector and code intelligence, plus cool
CSS, HTML, and XML support. The award-winning IDE also includes Firefox-style
extensibility.

At the same time, ActiveState introduced Komodo Edit, a free multi-language editor
based on Komodo IDE. Komodo Edit was open sourced earlier this year.

Open Komodo was announced by ActiveState in September of 2007. The project is an
initiative by ActiveState to create an open source platform for building developer
environments, in support of open web technologies.
